On November 10-22, 2012 the working group of Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange OJSC headed by Chairman of the Board Arkadi Salikov paid business visits to the Republic of India and New Zealand.
On November 14, 2012 in New Delhi at the National Exhibition of the Republic of Belarus held within the framework of the 32nd India International Trade Fair the delegates conducted a presentation of the services offered by BUCE and advantages of buying Belarusian produce with the help of the system of electronic exchange auctions at BUCE. The opening ceremony was attended by the governmental delegation of the Republic of Belarus headed by the Prime Minister Mikhail Myasnikovich as well as heads of a number of ministries and departments of the Republic of India.
The outcome of the work directed at the search for the mutually beneficial areas of co-operation with companies from the perspective for Belarus region of Southeast Asia has been the talks held by the working group with the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of the National Spot Exchange Limited (NSEL) Mr. Anjani Sinha. The agreements reached have been fixed in the Memorandum of Understanding signed between BUCE and NSEL, implementation of which will make it possible for Belarusian companies-participants in BUCE’s exchange auctions to significantly extend their presence in Indian commodity market as well as widen the range of commodities and increase volumes of mutual trade between Belarus and countries from Southeast Asia.
The official signing of this document took place as part of Belarus-India Business Forum held with the participation of the head of Belarusian government and organized by Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Trade, Confederation of Indian Trade, and Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry.
In the course of the visit to New Zealand the working group of BUCE held talks with the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Belarus in New Zealand, the Representative of Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in New Zealand Mr. Stuart Prior as to attracting companies from New Zealand to BUCE’s exchange auctions. For the purpose of implementing the reached agreements the working group of BUCE took part in the business matchmaking session that was organized on the premises of the New Zealand Chamber of Commerce and Industry. In the course of the meeting BUCE delegates and representatives of New Zealand business entities interested in trading with Belarusian companies discussed possibilities of enhancing the application of exchange trade instruments with a view to broaden the list of goods manufactured in Belarus and to be exported to New Zealand.
Representatives of BUCE held talks with a Director of the largest in the world dairy company Fonterra Mr. Malcolm Bailey, in the course of which the parties came to an agreement to move up to a higher level of interaction, including in the area of adaptation of the international practices in organizing exchange auctions in agricultural produce as well as implementation of joint projects, among which in the first place is the creation of the futures commodity market in the Republic of Belarus.
Within the context of the business visit to New Zealand the members of the working group also visited the 150th Canterbury A and P show – the largest in the Pacific region agricultural exhibition. Visiting this event helped to multiply foreign trade ties of the exchange and to set up direct contacts with business entities from the Pacific region.
