On 5 of November, 2013 in Ashgabat during the official visit of the President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko in Turkmenistan and as a result of the talks with the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov a package of bilateral documents on cooperation between Belarus and Turkmenistan in various fields was signed.

The package of these documents included an agreement on cooperation between Turkmenistan Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange and Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange OJSC. On the Turkmen side the agreement was signed by the Chairman of Turkmenistan Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange Shaberdi Meredov, and, on the Belarusian side, by the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus in Turkmenistan Oleg Tabanyuhov.

This agreement provides for the development of cooperation between the exchanges in the sphere of research and sharing experience on the use of the electronic exchange trade instruments during the trading and procurement operations fulfillment, expanding the geography and increasing the quantity of the participants of the competitive exchange auctions, growth of the volumes of  exchange transactions. The Parties are intended to provide the interested business entities of Belarus and Turkmenistan with assistance due to reducing costs of the trading and procurement operations conducting, search of counterparties and reduce of risks, as well as conducting of conferences and training seminars on the use of electronic and exchange trade instruments.
