The delegation of Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange OJSC (BUCE) headed by the Chairman of the Board Arkady Salikov made ​​a business trip to Latin American countries from 1 to 12 November, 2013, and visited Havana (Cuba), Mexico City (Mexico) and Lima (Peru). The main purpose of this visit was to set up new business contacts, to increase a customer base and to present the exchange possibilities of electronic trade in exchange and non-exchange commodities.

Thus, during the visit to Cuba the BUCE delegation participated as an exhibitor in the Universal Havana International Fair FIHAV 2013.

During the event talks with the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus in the Republic of Cuba Vladimir Astapenko were held. The parties discussed the possibility of advancing the electronic trade instruments use for increase of the volume of export-import operations between Belarus and Cuba, as well as search for partners for a joint project of the BUCE regional electronic trading platform creation in the Latin American region. The BUCE delegation negotiated also with the directors of the Chamber of Commerce of Cuba and the representatives of agricultural and food enterprises of Cuba, as well as the directors of  such companies as Cubaniquel, ACINOX SA and other mining enterprises in Cuba. During the meetings, the Cuban party was informed about the activities of BUCE, the prospects of electronic and exchange instruments use for increasing the volumes of trade between Belarus and Cuba. The parties discussed also the possibility of trading in Cuban commodities on electronic trading platforms of BUCE. Moreover, the BUCE representatives attended the presentation of the free economic zone of Cuba that is one of the best alternatives to enter the markets of Cuba and other Latin American countries.

The program of the visit to Mexico was no less eventful. In particular the BUCE delegation held talks with the directors of Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Mexico.

As a result, it was agreed to explore the possibility of joint projects on the Latin American market implementation and the development of cooperation aimed at increasing the volume of exchange transactions with participation of business entities from Latin American countries. In the course of a business meeting in the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Mexico a matchmaking session was held with representatives of the Mexican business community, within which a presentation of electronic and exchange trade instruments was conducted to attract companies from Latin America to trade on BUCE.  In addition, the delegation of BUCE held talks with the directors of the Mexican company promoting foreign trade and investment ProMexico. Negotiations resulted in the agreement on the information cooperation that encompasses exchange of the information on the situation in the member countries of the Customs Union of Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia, on the one hand, and Mexico and other Latin American countries, on the other, commodity markets.

The final point of this business trip program was a visit to the capital of Peru - Lima. The meetings schedule here was also quite busy. Thus, the representatives of BUCE held talks with the directors of the Agency for Export and Tourism Promotion PromPeru on the question of creating a single trading platform Belarus -  Peru the parties agreed also on the information cooperation. The agency PromPeru was interested in participating in an online conference with BUCE, which will provide with information on all issues relating to the organization of exchange auctions on the BUCE platforms. In addition, during the visit to Peru a business meeting was held with the representatives of the Peruvian business community as well as the directors of the Association of Exporters of Peru and the representatives of its members. The BUCE delegation transferred informational materials about the BUCE electronic and exchange trade instruments to the representatives of the largest trade and industrial companies in Peru. Thus, it was the first step taken to attract the Peruvian companies to participate in the exchange auctions on the BUCE platforms.
